Day 29: Accepting Your Assignment

  • Point to Ponder: Service is not optional.
  • Verse to Remember: For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. -Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
  • Question to Consider: What is holding me back from accepting God's call to serve Him?
I don't know how to serve Him. I am in the process of freeing myself from school work (I get my MBA in April) and work work (The 4-Hour Workweek, anyone).

But I still don't know if that's the best way for me to serve Him. Do I have to be physically present for it to count as service? Can I run my group and business according to his Word and that counts? Can I give more money to causes and that counts?

I know it's not about what "counts." It's about loving God, but reading this book makes it sound like Time and Presence are required to serve. And I just don't believe that's true. Some of God's children are blessed with Time and delight to work with other people. Others are blessed to make money and set examples through leadership. I don't think the latter is any less valid than the former if the tools are used out of love of service for God.
