The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren

The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, 2002

WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU AREN'T READY TO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE.

The Purpose Driven Life is a 40-day devotional that explorers God's five purposes in life for every Christian.

Here's a hint. You're not fulfilling them. Neither am I.

Warren breaks life purposes into five categories, which make up the five parts of the book:

  1. Worship
  2. Fellowship
  3. Discipleship
  4. Ministry
  5. Mission
I must admit, this book, like the Bible made me feel a little bit helpless. Fulfilling these things seems so difficult at times, and I especially struggle with even wanting to take part in fellowship.

Warren doesn't pull any punches. He lays out the purposes and backs them up with scripture and leaves no room for gray.

Reading the book made me realize how underdeveloped my faith was. Yet, I am taking it as a challenge. I am going to do the exercices in the book and, I've done all of the daily devotionals, and they'll be trickling out on this blog.

This book has sold over 30 million copies. Anyone here read it? Really interested in thoughts.
