Day 36: Made for a Mission

  • Point to Ponder: I was made for a mission.
  • Verse to Remember: Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. -Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
  • Question to Consider: What fears have kept me from fulfilling the mission God made me to accomplish? What keeps me from telling others the Good News?
On the home stretch now, as we enter the fifth purpose of life: Fulfilling God's mission for me. Mr. Warren explains that my ministry is what I do for other Christians and my mission is what I do for non-Christians.

To answer the question. There is not really any fear that keeps me from fulfilling this mission. What keeps me from it, is the fear of pushing someone farther away from Christ. There is a very fine line between helping and being annoying, and I have seen many times were perfectly well intentioned Christians evangelize someone clear out of knowing anything about Jesus. I don't know if my approach is right, but I like to subtly invite people to church. Generally, I don't know if they are believers or not, but either way, I want to get them to Oasis because I feel the leaders create a friendly, non-threatening and learning conducive environment for people who are considering Christ, not considering Christ or who want to know more about Christ.
